The streets in Ellicott City come alive each September during the Ellicott City Music Festival, also known as the Main Street Music Fest. This free family-friendly event is a great time to enjoy music, locally brewed craft beer, food and a variety of activities!
Billed as Maryland’s first “Unsigned Emerging Artist Music Festival,” you will want to plan to attend this year’s event Sept. 25, 2015 from noon to 9 p.m. in Historic Ellicott City. Expect to see more than 80 bands playing on five outdoor and five indoor stages.
Each outdoor stage will be sponsored by a local craft brewery or winery, and local restaurants will offer delicious food at each venue, as well as nonalcoholic beverages. So grab the family and head out to the Ellicott City Music Festival for a full day of fun! Be sure to check the event website close to the event for an up-to-date schedule of performing bands.
While the lineup hasn’t been released, you won’t want to miss the excitement on the five outdoor stages, which include:
Main Street Stage – The Main Street Stage is the biggest stage and the center of activity during the festival. Located in Lot D behind the Howard County Tourism Center, you’ll be able to listen to the bands playing on stage while checking out food vendors and a family crafts area.
Let There be Rock Stage – As you might guess, this stage will feature some of the best young rock musicians who will represent the Let There be Rock School in nearby Frederick, Md.
Home Grown Stage – You’ll want to visit this stage, located behind in The Wine Bin parking lot to watch performances by a bevy of talented local musicians.
Tiber Park Stage – This stage is located in the alley at Tiber Park near the bottom of Main Street.
La Palapa Acoustic Showcase Stage – Billed as a great place to watch live music and enjoy a frozen margarita, this stage is located on the patio of La Palapa’s Grill & Cantina.
In addition to the live music and vendors, organizers of the Ellicott City Music Festival always make sure to include family friendly activities. Every year is different, but this year’s family activities include crafts, storytelling, a meet and greet with Star Wars characters, face painting, and other special activities that will be announced closer to the event.
