Two hundred years of history await you at the Wayside Inn. Conveniently located in historic Ellicott City, Maryland, and within a short drive of either Baltimore or Washington, D.C., the Wayside Inn is the perfect place for you to escape to the past. 

Guests of the Inn enjoy outstanding, home-away-from-home hospitality. Your comfortable night's sleep in one of our exquisite rooms is followed by a full, gourmet breakfast, created fresh that morning by the innkeepers. Then spend the day exploring the area: shopping in Historic Ellicott City, antiquing in Frederick, touring our nation’s capital, meandering through Annapolis, cruising on the Chesapeake Bay, or experiencing Baltimore’s famous Inner Harbor. All rooms are centrally air conditioned and heated. Cable television and VCRs are in each room. All rooms include telephones with dataports. Afternoon refreshments are served everyday between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m. The Wayside Inn is smoke-free.

Margo's Suite

A romantic two-room suite with a queen-size bed which has a beautiful padded fabric headboard, antique painted chests, and cozy eyelid windows. The second room is a quaint sitting room, perfect for reading the morning paper over coffee or tea, doing a jigsaw puzzle, or just catching up with each other. Both rooms have been newly wallpapered. There is a private bath with an antique claw-foot bathtub (bubble bath included, of course!) to which we have added an antique brass shower. This is one of our most popular room especially for honeymooners!

Betty's Suite
A two-room suite filled with Federal Period antiques and reproductions. The queen-size pediment bed is beautifully fitted with down pillows and a warm, floral comforter. The second room is a charming sitting room with a large sofa for lounging during the day, which may be converted to an extra queen bed to turn this suite into a luxurious family suite. There is a private bath with a tub and shower.

The Banneker Room

This light and airy room has an antique queen size four poster rice bed that is so tall we provide a step to get up on it! This room offers a wood-burning fireplace (fire log provided). The new entertainment nook has an armoire which houses your TV/VCR with full cable (three channels of HBO!) The new private Bathroom has a large double Jacuzzi style tub, a separate shower with an overhead Rain Forest showerhead and a marble top vanity with a seating area for lady’s makeup preparations.

The Ellicott Room
An artistic rendering of Main Street, Ellicott City in the middle 1800s, highlights the soft décor of this room, which has a beautiful queen size sleigh bed. Lounge in the cozy settee while reading or watching a movie. This room has a wood-burning fireplace (fire log provided). The large private bathroom has a large Jacuzzi style tub for two plus a large glass enclosed shower with a seat and an overhead Rain Forest showerhead! There is also a large marble top vanity big enough for two to get ready for a night out at one of Ellicott City’s fine restaurants.

The Pierpoint Suite

This all new suite is the height of luxury! The large bedroom has a four poster queen size bed flanked by windows decorated with fine silk draperies. Above the wood burning fireplace, a louvered cabinet may be opened to reveal a large plasma television to watch cable TV or one of our many movies we have at your disposal. Or relax in the large adjoining sitting room which has a full size sofa, chairs and lighting perfect for reading, playing games or a having an intimate conversation. 

Please feel free to borrow from our extensive selection of Classical CD’s to play on your Bose CD/Radio player. And surprise…… the sitting room has a fireplace too! The suite has an ensuite, newly remodeled bathroom with a HUGE shower for two. This shower has an overhead Rain Forest showerhead, three adjustable body jets, and a seat. Pamper yourself in this beautiful suite for a night you will never forget!

The Wayside Inn is located at 4344 Columbia Road. It is conveniently located in Ellicott City, between Baltimore, Maryland, and Washington, D.C.
From Washington, DC/Virginia and
areas south:

Take 95 north to 100 west (Exit 43B), toward Ellicott City. At US 29 (approx. 5 1/2 miles), take the left exit onto US 29 south. Move to the right and take the first exit (Exit 21B, Clarksville) onto Route 108 west. Take your first right (at a traffic light) onto Columbia Road. Drive 1.5 miles to 4344 Columbia Road. The Inn is on your left. Look for a large, black country- size mailbox with the address 4344 and if you are arriving after dark our lamp post light should be shining brightly.
From Baltimore Area and areas north:
